Item description:

An impressive and magnificent vintage 1980s sapphire and diamonds cocktail ring adorned with an exceptionally colored deep Royal blue Burma Mogok sapphire centerpiece. The sapphire is guaranteed natural and with superb loupe clean (for Type II gems) clarity. The oval sapphire is of top A quality and estimated to weigh exactly 4.12 carats. We had a GIA lab report issued for the stone, but GIA could not determine precisely the exact origin and it was stated as inconclusive within the lab report. That is the reason why we had the gem inspected for a second time by an HRD certified gemologist and he confirmed it unconditionally to be of Burmese Mogok mine origin. The observations showed that this truly fantastic gem possesses the usual rutile needles that one expects to see primerely in natural Burma sapphires. Other gemological evidences for the sapphire being of exactly Burma Mogok origin included a so called "fingerprint" or "healed fluid feather" formed as a result of the natural crystal regrowth that primerely appear in Burma sapphires, as well as other typical Mogok pyrrholite or phlogopite microscopic inclusions present within the gemstone. The sapphire was further found not to be treated by other ways except for typical minor heating, since heavily treated sapphires usually show halo formations around the microscopic inclusions within the crystal, while the present sapphire does not show any such formations. The sapphire shows absolutely NO fluorescence whatsoever under UV light. A natural Burma sapphire of that quality and size is usually considered a rarity and particularly with such a superbly saturated midnight blue color. The ring is further adorned with about 2.50 carats of mixed round and marquise D color and IF clarity diamonds (6 round brilliant cut and 10 marquise cut diamonds). The top face of the ring measures roughly 19mm (0.75") in diameter. Gross weight of ring is 6.7 grams in 18 karat yellow and white gold and ring size is 52 (US size 6 / UK size L/M) but can easily be resized. Absolutely scarce vintage jewelry collector piece and one of the finest Royal Blue Burma sapphire rings and jewels.
